Until a few years ago I never saw squirrels in Belfast. Then they started to appear in small numbers in the Ormeau Park. Now they are proliferating and this one has become a regular visitor to our garden.

Welcome
This is the blog of my journalism and recordings, with some extracts from my books too. I tend to sound off on Northern Ireland Politics and Culture. Some of the work here will be recent journalism, articles that have appeared in the Belfast Telegraph or elsewhere, but there is a lot of material going back a couple of years now, so please hang around and browse. Hi Malachi
Finished the book yesterday. Marvellous. Such a certain and personal hand, unaffected turns of phrase… all in all just plain, solid story-telling. Also enjoyed tonight’s Tely–two major features in one day! Wow…(you were productive at the Sunday News, but never as good as that!) Perceptive stuff on Adams. You’re right: He’ll never appear the same from now on.
All the best to you and Maureen in the holiday season.
Malachi head down at the right time of year to Mount Stewart Gardens and you are bound to see plenty of reds!! You must go in the morning however as they go and have a nap at lunchtime!!
